The Kenwood TM-271A is a 2 meter ham radio
transceiver that is built to be rugged and handle diverse conditions. Slim and clean and all the features
needed for full fledge repeater duplex and FM simplex operations. It's also dependable and durable too,
as it was made to be MIL-STD 810 compliant yet small enough to allow easy mobile mounting! Who
says small size means weak power? Well this isn't always true as can be seen with this powerful 60 watt
two meter radio that is nearly indestructible along with rigorous military standards in durability! As 2
meters is the most popular outside of HF, this affordable transceiver is just the ticket for those looking for a do
it all, yet affordable mono band mobile!
The Kenwood TM-271A also supports both wide
and narrow deviation which is for those hams in a crowded urban area where it would be beneficial to
minimize channel bandwidth/spacing and relieve congestion on a crowded band in your area. I've never had to
use this feature however, as I don't live in the heart of major city and the selectivity for this amateur
radio is actually pretty decent so never needed it, however it’s a nice extra to have just in case though. If
