The Yaesu FT-857D is small, compact, yet does
it all and has all the HF, VHF, and UHF amateur bands in a single transceiver! It's simply amazing all the
things and frequencies this model does, considering how its size and how portable it is.. Keep in
mind, this isn't just a portable HF rig, the YAESU FT-857 also comes with 6 meters, 2 meters, and 440
MHz! You don't normally see all these frequencies in a small mobile package like this, unless it's
a low power QRP transceiver with a meager 5 watts output. Well this one is the exception, as it has full
size power! It does a full 100 watts of RF output on HF (6-160 meters), 50 watts on 2 meters,
and 20 watts on 440MHZ!
The Yaesu FT-857D also has a very low noise
floor, so it's receive can contend with the best of transceivers in terms of weak signal detection with less noise!
