The Yaesu VX-7R handheld (or HT) transceiver is in a whole new league of durability and features for Yaesu and other ham radio manufacturers for that matter.  In the past, many of their portable models were water resistant; however this one is fully submersible up to 3 foot of depth for 30 minutes!  If you drop and lost your HT handheld in more than 3 feet of water for more than 30 minutes, chances are you're never going to find it anyways!  When I first got this model, it kind of gave me an urge to go scuba diving with it.. lol.  

It also had more frequencies than any other handheld I have ever owned, covering 6 meter, 2 meter, and 430mhz all in amazingly small size, however many hams didn't realize this nifty radio also came with a low powered 222mhz band as an extra perk as well!  To be honest, I don't know anyone in my area that uses this band, so never got a shot to test it out though, but it was nice to have and knowing I actually had a quad-band, not a tri-band radio met even more bragging rights at the local club! 

The Yaesu VX-7R transceiver came in your choice of a silver and black chassis, both of which looked really great cosmetically!  The lettering and display were clear, concise, and looked great!  It was one of those handheld ham radios you just wanted to show off with friends!
